“The Field Spaniel is gentle in nature, caring & confident.”
— Daintyfield
At Daintyfield, we are passionate about developing the Field Spaniel breed in Australia. We breed quality Field Spaniels.
“Daintyfield” is a quality Field Spaniel breeder based in Sydney, Australia.
“Daintyfield” is our Kennel name & was named after our great grandmother Dainty Angell, the mother of two incredible women in our lives, our late grandmother Averil Purkis & the late Olive Jackson known as “OJ”.
Our love of the rare Field Spaniel started over 8 years ago with the introduction of Hunter to our family. With our English heritage, our father had wanted a Field Spaniel. It was a breed he loved that reminded him of England. The prestigious Field Spaniel has many wonderful traits and they truly change your life. It was only natural that I decided to get one of my own when the time was right.
Our late great aunt Olive Jackson inspired us show & breed Field Spaniels in Australia.
We were encouraged when visiting her Jokyl Kennels in the UK in 2018 with her business partner Mary Swash. Established in 1957, Jokyl has owned and bred 91 Champion Airedale Terriers to date, including the all-time top winning Airedale Terrier Champion Jokyl This Is My Song. After this trip to the UK, we knew we wanted to breed Field Spaniels & develop this beautiful breed. The Jokyl Kennels & grounds are incredibly impressive and not like anything I have ever seen since.
During my childhood, Olive would visit from the UK & was always an inspiration when I was younger. Olive became a judge and officiated in many countries, America, Australia, Finland, Sweden and others. She was also invited to judge the breed at Crufts on two occasions and was a sought-after Terrier Group judge. Later on, she refused judging engagements preferring to have the Jokyls in the ring. In the sixty years of showing Jokyl Airedales have made up 89 UK Champions.
We have grown up with Gundogs all of our life with my mother Maureen Eyles breeding Irish Setters in the 1970s, grandparents having "Pasha" the 3 legged German Shorthaired Pointer in the 1980’s in Birchgrove, Sydney & our family dog "Rosie" the Gordon Setter. My father also has a 8-year-old Field Spaniel named “Hunter" who enjoys a relaxing life chasing birds, following his nose through pine trees and bush at our family property in Bilpin & tagging along with Harper & our Field Spaniels for days on the boat on Sydney Harbour.
The very beautiful and regal “Harper” also known by her pedigree name as “Australian Champion Dawnus Oh Sweet Cheeses” joined our life in 2019. Thank you to our Breeder Steph Betts for creating such a beautiful dog & breeding exceptional Field Spaniel lines. As the Field Spaniel is very rare in Australia, we are focusing on importing new lines to the country. We imported “Archer” also known as “Champion Killara’s Fly Me To The Moon” from the USA to Australia in April 2024. We will continue to improve the breed diversity in Australia & only breed the best of the best.
Harper has passed all her hip scoring, eye tests & heart tests in 2021 & is approved for breeding. Her nurturing, confident & relaxed temperament will follow through to her offspring.
We are excited to contribute to the Field Spaniel breed in Australia & share this rare and wonderful breed with new owners.
